Parenting Seminars

AlmaCC Parenting Seminar Photo 3.jpg

We offer free monthly bilingual Parenting Seminars in local schools throughout our community. Parents learn about childhood mental health and positive parenting from licensed professionals. A couple of parents had this to say about the seminars:

"I learned how to break the cycle of depression and be open to talking to my kids about it."

"I learned how to talk with children in a way to better understand what is happening to them and how to gain their confidence."

Esperanza

Esperanza, which means "hope" in Spanish, provides full scholarships to 4-5 community parents to receive professional individual and group therapy led by a licensed, Christian, and bilingual therapist.

Parents receive 4-6 personalized, individual and 6-8 group therapy sessions to help, support and care for their family through a gospel lens.

Since 2020, our program has been a tremendous blessing to the participating mothers and their families. One of those mothers had this to say about the program:

“I am so thankful for Alma Community Care. Earlier this year, death threats from our teenage daughter’s gang-member ex-boyfriend drove me to bouts of depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and sleepless nights – all of which worsened my ongoing struggle with Lupus. It is very difficult for me to find help without health insurance, but thanks to Alma’s Esperanza program, now I can process my trauma with a therapist. I can get out of bed in the mornings, and I can confidently go outside my home. May God bless you for all that you’ve done for my family and me – you are a blessing to us all!”
